Fundraising for Christchurch

Happenings in Room 6 November 4th, 2010

Here is a picture of Grace selling flowers with her brother Elliot and friend Abby. They were selling flowers to help fundraise for the Christchurch earthquakes.

‘This was Grace’s idea and she was so determined to see it through that she and Elliot actually set up and sat at the end of our driveway for three days… they gathered the wind fallen flowers around our garden into a basket, designed and drew signage and sat, waiting for neighbours to come by so they could sell the flowers for a $1.00. We are so proud of them that we will / have donated $10.00 for every $1.00 they made. So $100 will be sent to Christchurch relief fund.” Grace’s Mum.

Fantastic work! Well done Grace your contributions towards the earthquake will surely be appreciated by the people of Christchurch!

Grandma Joy’s Visit

Happenings in Room 6 August 18th, 2010

Grandma Joy answering questions from the children.

Today Room’s 5 & 6 were treated by a special visit from Victoria’s Grandmother.  Grandma Joy talked to the children about growing up in the 1920s and 30s.  As part of our inquiry unit the children have been learning about how wellington has changed over time.  Even though Grandma Joy did not grow up in Wellington there has been lots of changes since she moved here in the 1950s.  We learned so much of how it was growing up in the past.  Thank you so much Grandma Joy for coming to see us!
